Yesterday the Birds took the ice, and now my kids are in love with ice skating. We have not done this sport since Dallin & I dated years and years ago, and once in Aspen when Hudson was a year and holland 3 months. I didn’t strap a pair of skates on technically, I thought that one might be a little too dangerous while trying to juggle the three toddlers, but it was still so fun! By the end Hudson was able to spin and stop by himself. Holland loved eating the snow, and Briton enjoyed being drug around:) but most importantly, I love that the kids are already begging to go skating again.

Every year we look forward to the Holiday Kick-Off event with Trolley Square. I love how all the shops come alive in the spirit of Christmas.
Last night we had a fun evening as a couple why my parents watched my kids. We had no stragglers, just the two of us. This is the first year Dallin and I have ever done this event together. Last year I took my mom and the year previous I went solo as Dallin attended the kids. So it was super fun to have him there with me.
We started the evening off at a dinner with all the other bloggers. It was fun meeting everyone and talking with others who do the same thing as me.
We went around to all the different shops and got samples of what was sold in each store. My favorite was the pearl necklace from the jewelry store Payne Anthony, my children’s were the bath bombs from Cosset Bath & Body, and my husbands the olive and vinegar from Olive.
We then were allotted a certain amount of money to spend at the stores. Every year I tell myself I will make it to LuLu Lemon and get something for myself, but Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids gets me every time.
Right now in store you can get up to 25% off your purchase of $250 or more in their spend more save more promotion. I also liked how all the items we ordered that needed embroidery was free shipping when ordered at the store, and thankfully it will come to my home.
For all the items purchased in store, they offer free gift wrap which is beautiful and a huge plus!
I am officially in full blown holiday mode and as crazy as it may sound, I am already looking forward to this event for next year.
Have a very merry weekend!

The other day I wrote my current workout routine, (see post here) and how I no longer attend my gym classes since having kids, so I bought a couple of my favorite workout dvd’s, amongst them Zumba.
I sit here almost laughing just thinking how yesterday when I went to get my brows done I had all three of my kids on the table sitting either to the side of me or on my stomach, and how one of them bumped the esthetician elbow as she was shaping my arch therefore causing a little more hair to get removed than planned.
Yeah, I think I am due for a little Shannon time.
I want to extend this #treatyourself challenge to all of you to do something nice for yourself.
I would love some ideas, so if you have any fun ways you are going to treat yourself please let me know 🙂 I am thinking along the lines of mani-pedi 🙂
Just dropped off the kids at school, another little lays on my lap, so I figured a little Monday post and a hello to all of you would be the best thing to do. I have also shared a promo code to one of my favorite boutiques for little girls.
I hope your Monday is going great. I am anticipating tonight, we are going to take the kids shopping for kids in need. I am so excited for them to experience the JOY that comes from helping others.
Today as we went over the lists, the kids were in shock as the kids lists asked for mostly necessities for Christmas. There has already been so many great teaching moments, & I love watching my kids think about others, “mom we’re going to get them toys too, right?” -My heart could burst:)

Anybody else feel like this week felt like the twilight zone? Like how is it already Friday? With the election Tuesday, my husband traveling, daylight savings, preparing for my talk on Sunday and making big final decisions on my kitchen remodel, I’ve felt a little scatter brained the last few days.
With that said I want to address your hair questions you had for me on my latest instagram post. And apologize for my delay in response to your emails.
First of all thanks for noticing that I have done something different with my hair.
These are the major differences
- I haven’t had a Blowout/keratin treatment since April meaning I don’t have one at the moment
- I ran out of my sulfate free shampoo and conditioner and have been using our guest bathroom set which contains sulfates
- I bought a really cheap and good fat curling wand, that I love!
- I don’t curl my hair with my strainer anymore, which is why my hair is fuller and fluffier.
- I blow dry my hair straight first and then I curl it vs. air drying and straining my curls to my face
- I also start my curls higher up, mid cheek, vs starting the curl under the chin
I always like to switch up my routine, sometimes it’s by choice, but mostly it’s bc of time or the lack there of. For example, not being able to run to the salon for product, having to shower in the morning vs my night routine, or what not.
I hope this was helpful,
Have a wonderful weekend !
Following Oprah’s lead, today I have gone ahead and mimicked Oprah’s favorite things with a display of my own favorite things.
I have shared items that I swear by and items I would love to try & buy. These are things on my personal “grown up Christmas list” or in my closet. Take a peak and detox as today is election day. Ready or not American’s win or lose we are getting a new President.
Today when I vote I have decided I am not going with a person, I am going with my morals and who’s value system most closely follows mine.
I am not going off what he said, she said, that’s too much of a headache. I am going off what America I want to raise my children in and who will protect and preserve the great country which we live in.
And on that note…
God Bless America!
