Disney World

October 16, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

Disney World I miss you so much already! Since the minute we landed we have been going nonstop over here. Ive been commuting 4 hrs a day for fitness holiday photoshoots (its been a blast!), catching up on homework, assigning babysitters, unpacking, catching up on the blog, and adjusting to home life.

Todays post is going to be more like a journal entry because I always want to remember how much fun we had!

October 6

On our first day we had planned to sleep in and make it a pool and relaxing day, but with Disney World out your back door we decided to make it a Magic Kingdom Day.

Epcot Day

From our hotel we could just walk to it. We stayed at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin on the Dolphin side. It was so nice not having to deal with a rental car and to be able to walk to some of the Disney Parks. If you couldn’t walk then you could take a shuttle or boat.

 October 8

The following day we finally slept in and had a catch up day and went to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party. Where we dressed up and  trick or treated Magic Kingdom. It was amazing!

October 9

Blizzard Beach. I remember when this fun ski resort water park opened and the commercials were all over the Disney Channel. I was so excited to come here. I had been wanting to go since I was Hudsons age. It was so worth the wait!

Spent the day at the Swan and Dolphin pool. Holland got her hair braided and we played on the play ground. We then went to Disney Springs to our favorite TREX restaurant. If you go, make sure to order the extinction dessert. The dry ice volcano in the middle is so fun for the kids.

Hollywood Studios. I love Hollywood Studios. They just opened a whole new part of the park called Toy Story Land, the lines are NUTS, but so worth it. My favorite ride is still Tower of Terror. The shows are all super fun too.

October 12

Animal Kingdom Day. We love the safari ride and the expedition to everest ride here most. Next time we come we are going to do the Pandora land. We walked through it at night and it was so magical.

Our last day at Magic Kingdom! I was really feeling the love and had the best time with my husband and family. We really wanted to enjoy this trip and make this trip about our family. Our home lives our very busy and scheduled, so it was so nice to just take a break from it all and to just enjoy.

I know you all got Disney Overdosed by me, so thanks for following along!

I have been asked lots of questions on my IG DM’s and I am so sorry I have not gotten to most of you, if you do have questions please feel free to ask on my blog (birdalamode.com) or on my IG pics I see those first and respond quickest there.

Start from the beginning -its the best part. For some reason I can’t embed the video from the start, nor can I find this song for purchase ANYWHERE!!!!!

9th Anniversary At The Grand America

September 27, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

This anniversary was a special one, as it was our first one in seven years (since having kids), we got to celebrate as just the two of us. I want to thank my mom and The Grand America for making it unforgettable for the both of us.

As we were packing up after our stay, I got really choked up thinking about all the future memories I want to make here. I want to celebrate many more anniversaries here. I want to spend the night before Holland gets married with her here and help her get ready for her wedding day here. I want to decorate the honeymoon suits for my boys after their wedding days here, etc.

Life is so beautiful and should be celebrated.  The Grand America has a sense of nostalgia about it that takes special life moments and elevates them. The memories we made will be ones I carry with me through my entire life. I never want to forget this anniversary.

We celebrated with the Anniversay Package, which included; two keepsake robes + slippers, chocolate truffles, a baby package for Brooklyn (I wasn’t certain he wasn’t coming with), a rose, spa passes (which we never got around to using, we never left the room until we had too) and $100 dollar spend credit to use at the hotel (we used for room service, and souviners)

I am so thankful for our time at The Grand America and highly recommend it as a great place for a very romantic getaway and any special life moment worth remembering and celebrating.

9! Years

September 25, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

Has it really only been 9?!? I feel like I have changed so much in the short nine years we’ve been together.
I met Dallin summer of my freshman year of college, got married fall of my jr. year in college. Graduated 6 months pregnant with Hudson. And have had 3 more kids every 18-23 months after that.

Knowing you has been hands down the greatest + busiest years of my life! I love this wonderful crazy life we’ve created together!

South Dakota

September 23, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

South Dakota is STUNNING !!! I highly recommend visiting and staying where we stayed. It was incredible.

We stayed in the Sylvan Cabins (about 20 mins away from Mount Rushmore). They have 1,2 or 3 bedrooms cabins. That are cleaned daily, just like a hotel. You have your own indoor and outdoor fireplace/pit to do s’mores at night.

The cabins are right above the lake. It’s an easy hike down to the Sunday Gulch trail, which goes around the entire lake. It is beautiful and kid friendly. The Sylvan Lake is also amazing and super unique with the rock formations.

The lodge has a great restaurant, we ate breakfast here every morning.

The lodge is also a 5 min. drive to get to the Needles highway, and Cathedral bypass (both are must sees and dos)

*If you have any! questions at all about our trip, feel free to ask

Mount Rushmore

September 23, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

Every September we like to take a road trip somewhere new. Hollands gymnastics coach told me about her trip to Mount Rushmore and I was sold on the idea. I left the planning and the driving up to Dallin and it was such an amazing trip.

Mount Rushmore suprisngly was only a 10 hour drive from our home. It’s located in South Dakota, and it is beautiful. The monument is stunning and the area is so clean and pristine. There is a half mile hike that is kid friendly around the front of the face of the mountain.

Our favorite was the 8pm closing ceremony where they lit up Mount Rushmore. The program was very touching and special. We learned all about the history of Mount Rushmore, and my favorite, we honored all those in the audience that had defended our country. And there were so many.

I’m always going to remember our visit and hope my children will too. But if not, well be back 🙂

Martin’s Cove

September 23, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

Talk about the best way to break up a 10 hr drive. About 5 hours into our road trip we pulled off the highway to Martins Cove.

The kids loved pulling handcarts, getting necklaces and watching/learning about what took place here.

Both Dallin and I both have family that trekked 1,300 miles from Illinois to Utah on this same trail. It was a very neat experience. And made us put a lot of things into perspective. Grateful for the sacrifices made here and the memories we made as a family.
