The night started out a couple hours later than we had anticipated. Hudson fell into our backyard river, which was a lot deeper than he thought it was going to be he said, while chasing down his RC race car that can go in water. Of course he was wearing his snow boots. Thankfully he didn’t get hurt or sick, but we spent two hours blowdrying his boots and putting the inserts in the dryer. Almost forfeiting our night, we still decided we should go.
I am so glad we made it last night because the Ice Castles were beyond magical, and there was not too big of a crowd. We had tried going last weekend when we stayed in Midway, but the tickets were all sold out.
I couldn’t get enough of the sparkly ice, hence the 100 photos, but nothing compared to the looks on my kids faces. My kids favorite part were the different ice slides. They had two sets, a small one and a large one where you rode on mats. Hudson and Holland go first, and then I was going to hold Briton on my lap as we raced Dallin. But they told us no lap riders. I was like so my baby has to go down this big slide on that slippery matt all by himself?
My heart was racing! I went first so I could catch him at the bottom as my husband sent him down up top on his little back, belly up. About midway down the ice slide, it’s fairly long, I see my little babies boots kicking frantically, I’m scared! I kept thinking maybe he hit his head on the side of the ice slide or something?
But, he came zooming out of the slide with the biggest grin I’d ever seen! He was having the time of his life!
If you get the chance to visit the Ice Castles, here are my tips…
~Dress Warm! Dress your kids in snow gear so they won’t get cold or wet as they do ice slides go through tunnels etc. It was 10 degrees!
~Don’t wear rain boots! Wear snow boots, you are standing on ice and your feet freeze!
~Elsa and Anna come on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Check the Ice Castle website for details. Holland was sad we didn’t get to see them as we went on a Thursday.
~They have hot coco inside the ice castles so bring your wallet bc it’s nice just to hold and to warm up your fingers 🙂
~Buy your tickets online through their website you save a lot!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE 🙂
