Big changes ahead in 2017. This year I am taking a new approach with parenting. I am focusing on sleep. Before Christmas break I had Holland in afternoon preschool along with morning gymnastics & dance. She started crying everyday when I would drop her off at school and both her dance and gymnastics teachers had some behavior problems with little miss Holland.
Never dealing with this before, I started to involve my husband in on the matter. He came to her Christmas recital was so embarrassed that she couldn’t/wouldn’t focus.
During Christmas Break, everyday for two weeks Holland would take long winter naps from 12-4. Ironically this is usually when she is at school and after doing her morning activities.
We came to the conclusion that Holland is exhausted! With us being inconsistent with bedtime, combined with her inability to sleep in~She literally has always woken me up at 6 everyday of her life. I tell her she can come back in my room when the sun wakes up. So she sits on the couch, nose pressed against the window waiting for the sun to shine~ She is beyond sleep deprived. And she cannot afford to miss naps anymore.
Today I pulled her out of afternoon school and put both she and Hudson in morning school. This also means that she will have to quit dancing. I am so sad & loved watching her dance. But for now I think it’s best to focus on sleep & letting Holland be three. Activities will come & go, but you only get one shot at being three 🙂 I’m excited for our new routine, and to slow down a little more.
Today has already gone so smoothly, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring!
