This past week I had the best experience visiting Bolthouse Farms® in Bakersfield, CA. I have gained a greater appreciation of where food comes from. I’m never going to look at food at the grocery store the same.
Speaking with a fourth generation farmer for Bolthouse Farms (Bolthouse Farms has been around since 1915) , he taught me all about carrots, and the production of carrot juice. For example, did you know baby carrots don’t grow out of the ground beautifully shaped and neatly packaged (joking about the packaging, serious about not growing out of the ground in the shape of a baby carrot)?. A single carrot can produce up to 6 baby carrots.
I also loved learning about how carrots are turned into delicious carrot juice. You guys have to try the Bolthouse Farms carrot juice. It’s so sweet and has the best after taste when served chilled. The colder the better, in my opinion. I was surprised and delighted that there were not many steps from the carrot growing in the ground to being bottled into delicious fresh carrot juice.
The delicious sweet flavor of Bolthouse Farms® carrots in a bottle is a perfect balance of taste and nutrition. There is no added sugar, no artificial colors or flavors, no artificial preservatives. There are 3 3/4 servings of vegetables per 15.2oz bottle, so it’s a great way to get those veggies, antioxidants and Vitamin A in for myself and my children. Did I mention it’s American Heart Health Certified?!
During my visit, I was able to see the carrot farm, pick carrots from the ground the old fashion way, and take a ride in the Harvester used at the farm. But that’s not all. I went into the factory where the carrots were washed, prepped and prepared in the most efficient, sterile environment I’ve ever seen. I am so honored that I got to witness it all.
With my own eyes, I have seen Bolthouse Farms mission statement in action and can testify that when they say they have promised to use fewer ingredients that people don’t want. And more of the ones they do. Many of their products have no artificial flavors and no artificial preservatives.
