There I was sitting on my couch 8 weeks pregnant with mascara running down my face, I had just thrown up and in comes a face time call from my absolute gorgeous friend Nadya. Insecure of what my face looked like at the moment, I decided to answer anyway.
She instantly asked what was wrong & why it looked like I had been crying. I hadn’t told hardly anyone, but I was caught red handed so I proceeded to tell her I was pregnant again but this time super sick. She played Dr. with me and told me to get on a certain brand of anti nausa medication (I had never been sick in a pregnancy) I was like wait? how do you know? She was like because I was calling to tell you I am pregnant too! I was so excited that my best friend was finally joining the baby train and that our due dates were only 3 weeks apart from one another.
But there was more…
She proceeded to show me her ultrasound pics, she showed me baby A, as she called it. I’m thinking your last name starts with a C but ok. Then there was a baby B! Oh my word she’s having TWINS! I was thrilled for her and so happy I answered her phone call.
A fun little story of how we met…
I was sitting in the lunch room in 8th grade and a cute women with a catoluge came and sat down next to me. She asked if I knew her daughter Nadya (I hadn’t met her before) and if I would help her pick out some bedding for her new bedroom.
And then we met.
Nadya came over all wide eyed looking at her mom like what the heck is going on here? Nadya’s mom then told her to sit down and help us pick out bedding. We all exchanged numbers and Nadya’s mom invited me over that weekend to a house warming party.
I went, bringing along with me my group of friends and we’ve all been best friends ever since. We’ve been able to share so many of lives beautiful moments together. From drill team to college roommates, getting married a couple months apart from one another and now getting to be pregnant together.
I love this story for so many reasons.
Years later I found out the behind story of why Nadya’s mom came to the school in the first place. She came to help Nadya find a new group of friends. And that she felt she was led to me. I am so grateful that she sat by me and introduced me to Nadya that day. I hope I’m always that in tune with my kids, even if it embarrasses them in the moment:) It’s a friendship I’ll cherish forever!
