This past week my family was hosted by The Hard Rock Riviera Maya. We stayed in their 2,000 sq ft 2 bedroom deluxe platinum grand sky terrace. We loved looking at the ocean while eating room service and as the kids took bubble baths in the grand tub.
This is our second experience at a Hard Rock all inclusive resort, our first was Hard Rock Punta Cana, which we also loved. There is so much to do, the staff goes above and beyond, the kids club is amazing. Literally, my kids are there all day and complain when I take them out. They go out to lunch & dinner with kids club, they swim and play pool games, they go on ecological walks and find monkeys, iguanas, parrots etc., they make crafts, play games, multiple bounce houses were put up one night. My kids were in heaven.
I was so impressed with the food at The Hard Rock. My family loved the breakfast buffets. For lunch we either went to the cafe and got fresh strawberry salads and yummy turkey panini’s or we got margarita pizzas poolside with pina coladas.
We went to Toro a couple nights for dinner, the fancy steak house on the Heaven side of the property (adults only side, but you can bring your kids to Toro). The Hibachi, the Brazilian Steak House, and the Mexican restaurant were all really good too. I knew the food was going to be excellent because they have the exact restraunts (give or take a few) at the Punta Cana property.
If you are trying to compare properties my honest assessment is BOTH, I am so grateful I have been to both!
We played the compare game all week as we tried to determine which one we would go to next.
Cancun is a smaller propery (its still HUGE, Punta Cana is just VERY LARGE!) which made it nice for close proximity with children and having the rooms close. But Punta is great too as there are so many pools.
The beach. Cancun has a lagoon (like Disney Aulani Hawaii) more like a calm lake where you can snorkel & see fish, even kayak without the waves. Punta Cana has the Ocean, the waves, vendors walking up and down it where you can buy souvineers etc. also guys who will climb up the palm tree and cut you down a coconut for a yummy drink.
The kids club at Cancun’s building is smaller, but the kids are hardly in it. They take them to do activities around the property, which my kids loved, the staff was so darling to my children! The one in Punta Cana is beautiful and huge. The kids stay inside it and do all activities there (at least mine did, I don’t recall them leaving or doing meals with them)
So if your trying to compare apples to apples, its impossible. Because they are both beautiful properties with lots to offer. We would be so fortunate to get to come back to either property.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask.
