As many of you may or may not know we are moving today. I remember when I very first started blogging one of my first posts was about moving –see post here– when we first put our house up for sale and thinking we were going to move. Years and a couple more children later we are actually now doing it.
We have been all over the board and map when deciding our next move. Dallin a NJ boy loving Utah, and me a Utah girl loving NJ. What were we to do? We decided building was not for us and decided to go for a preexisting home for this stage of our life and family. Our two requirements were 1. backyard had to be fun for kids and big enough so that one day hopefully we could put a pool in. 2. the master had to have good proximity to the children.
I found a beach house style home, earlier this year that reminded me so much of NJ it even had a pineapple as the weather vein. That fell through and so the search continued. One day as we were driving I saw a sign for an open house. I ran inside really quick leaving my family and husband in the car I ran out to the car with hearts in my eyes and said “I actually love it”! Dallin didn’t believe me because it is the furthest thing from the last home I said I “loved”! This home is very rustic, and mountainy. Oddly enough it was like the beach home I once wanted. They both made me feel like I was on vacation, that I wasn’t anywhere or in any particular state, I was just home.
So today we move. I am actually nervous to leave my home aka our “rabbit hutch”, it’s all I know as a married couple, and as a mom. But I am so excited to finally get settled. No more looking, no more house showings, although my home is still for sale I just don’t have to make it look like I don’t live here when I actually do -that has been so hard with my small children 🙂
I am sharing this song because this morning as I am getting ready for the movers to come I keep playing it and singing opera. I love the lyrics and also that it is in opera. The kids and I always sing opera when we are cold or nervous. For example getting into a cold car we sing opera until we and the car warm up. It speeds up the process. So this morning I have been singing opera because I just want to speed up this moving process and move on to decking the halls with Christmas cheer 🙂
May we never forget our great memories and wonderful friendships we have made while here!
