Disney World

October 16, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

Disney World I miss you so much already! Since the minute we landed we have been going nonstop over here. Ive been commuting 4 hrs a day for fitness holiday photoshoots (its been a blast!), catching up on homework, assigning babysitters, unpacking, catching up on the blog, and adjusting to home life.

Todays post is going to be more like a journal entry because I always want to remember how much fun we had!

October 6

On our first day we had planned to sleep in and make it a pool and relaxing day, but with Disney World out your back door we decided to make it a Magic Kingdom Day.

Epcot Day

From our hotel we could just walk to it. We stayed at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin on the Dolphin side. It was so nice not having to deal with a rental car and to be able to walk to some of the Disney Parks. If you couldn’t walk then you could take a shuttle or boat.

 October 8

The following day we finally slept in and had a catch up day and went to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party. Where we dressed up and  trick or treated Magic Kingdom. It was amazing!

October 9

Blizzard Beach. I remember when this fun ski resort water park opened and the commercials were all over the Disney Channel. I was so excited to come here. I had been wanting to go since I was Hudsons age. It was so worth the wait!

Spent the day at the Swan and Dolphin pool. Holland got her hair braided and we played on the play ground. We then went to Disney Springs to our favorite TREX restaurant. If you go, make sure to order the extinction dessert. The dry ice volcano in the middle is so fun for the kids.

Hollywood Studios. I love Hollywood Studios. They just opened a whole new part of the park called Toy Story Land, the lines are NUTS, but so worth it. My favorite ride is still Tower of Terror. The shows are all super fun too.

October 12

Animal Kingdom Day. We love the safari ride and the expedition to everest ride here most. Next time we come we are going to do the Pandora land. We walked through it at night and it was so magical.

Our last day at Magic Kingdom! I was really feeling the love and had the best time with my husband and family. We really wanted to enjoy this trip and make this trip about our family. Our home lives our very busy and scheduled, so it was so nice to just take a break from it all and to just enjoy.

I know you all got Disney Overdosed by me, so thanks for following along!

I have been asked lots of questions on my IG DM’s and I am so sorry I have not gotten to most of you, if you do have questions please feel free to ask on my blog (birdalamode.com) or on my IG pics I see those first and respond quickest there.

We had a relaxing Sunday walking the boardwalk, eating yummy food and just taking in our views and nice warm weather. We flew out late that night on a red eye and haven’t stopped day dreaming of our next Disney adventure ever since. Is Christmas too soon? lol but seriously already want to go back!

Start from the beginning -its the best part. For some reason I can’t embed the video from the start, nor can I find this song for purchase ANYWHERE!!!!!
But if you know how i can buy it let me know 🙂

South Dakota

September 23, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

South Dakota is STUNNING !!! I highly recommend visiting and staying where we stayed. It was incredible.

We stayed in the Sylvan Cabins (about 20 mins away from Mount Rushmore). They have 1,2 or 3 bedrooms cabins. That are cleaned daily, just like a hotel. You have your own indoor and outdoor fireplace/pit to do s’mores at night.

The cabins are right above the lake. It’s an easy hike down to the Sunday Gulch trail, which goes around the entire lake. It is beautiful and kid friendly. The Sylvan Lake is also amazing and super unique with the rock formations.

The lodge has a great restaurant, we ate breakfast here every morning.

The lodge is also a 5 min. drive to get to the Needles highway, and Cathedral bypass (both are must sees and dos)

*If you have any! questions at all about our trip, feel free to ask

Martin’s Cove

September 23, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

Talk about the best way to break up a 10 hr drive. About 5 hours into our road trip we pulled off the highway to Martins Cove.

The kids loved pulling handcarts, getting necklaces and watching/learning about what took place here.

Both Dallin and I both have family that trekked 1,300 miles from Illinois to Utah on this same trail. It was a very neat experience. And made us put a lot of things into perspective. Grateful for the sacrifices made here and the memories we made as a family.

crib sheet (jump off jo) / milestone card (jump off jo)

One last look and pic of a crib in our home. Grateful I caught this sweet pic of my Brooklyn in his crib before we sold it.

I have had this crib since before Hudson and this past week we said goodbye.

We are currently still using his crib mattress and darling crib sheets from Jump Off Jo in a toddler bed as we wait for his new bed to be finished. I can’t wait to show you his new big boy bedroom. Its going to be my favorite room in the home, stay tuned.

A little about Brooklyns darling crib sheet, now toddler bed sheet.

We love the  innocence and beauty of the artwork on it. I have been super impressed with the quality and love how there has been no bleeding of colors when the deep rich colors against the bright white are washed together. After months and moths of wear, it still looks brand new.

We are still using the double sided milestone cards as sweet Brooklyn continues to grow. Right now he is getting ultra chatty and vocal. Pretty soon he’s going to be talking and I am not sure if I am ready for it.

I have loved how well the crib sheet has transitioned to a crib to a toddler bed. Its super fun and playful and perfect for my little Brooklyn.

We have always received so many compliments on how cute Brooklyn’s nursery is thanks to Jump Off Jo.

So glad we got these sheets, I even bought two different designs to alternate during washing because I couldn’t resist 😍

Lets Talk Botox + Veneers {Giveaway}

September 17, 2018 By Birdalamode Leave a Comment

Giveaway!!

Excited to be teaming up with both @spatrouve + @drallanthomas to give away $1000 towards cosmetic work with our office and one set of lip injections with Spa Trouve!! To enter: 1 – Follow us, @spatrouve and @drallanthomas. 2 – like this post 3 – tag three friends! Get 5 extra entries by reposting to your page and tagging all three of us. Winner announced Monday morning at 8am.

Above is a mock up of my before (top) and afters (bottom) of my smile before “veneers” and after.

This is just a “mock up” / “test drive” of what my smile will look like. I have only had my initial appointment with Dr. Thomas.

I started with a virtual appointment where Dr. Thomas and I spoke about what we would do to enhance my smile.

We decided I could use some whitening and two veneers on two of my incisors to make my teeth longer. I have a major tongue thrust and my tongue always pokes through when I smile.

These “mock up caps” have since come off and I now see my smile how it was prior. I can’t wait to get going with the rest of the process.

I still need to go and get my teeth color matched and my porcelain teeth permanently put on this week. (stay tuned for the real before + afters)

I’m so glad I was able to test out my smile for a few days before I made my decision. Both my husband and I were dragging our feet at first, but after we saw the temporary results we both loved it.

I am very excited to be teaming up with Dr. Thomas. I wouldn’t let just anyone touch my smile. More updates coming soon.

Botox

I recently decided to start getting a few botox injections when I started noticing in my photos that my “11” would should pretty prominently. I went into Spa Trouve and asked what I could do about this and to try to prevent further indents. We decided about 10 units in between my eyebrows and across my forehead every 6 months would be perfect!

In-between treatments I have started to wear hats and sunglasses outside. I try to spend most my time outdoors with my children and even try to exercise outdoors. Which is the reason I believe I even got my “11’s” in the first place all that squinting in the sun. I am thankful for botox for helping me correct my mistakes as I have not always been so careful.

Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide™

September 1, 2018 By Birdalamode 2 Comments

This post was sponsored by Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide™. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I know guacamole is extra, but so am I!

Don’t get me wrong, my burritos and my attitude can be “over the top” at times, or my blog/instagram pictures as a matter of fact. LOL sometimes you just got to laugh at yourself. Like me trying to take these photos in a suit too small (or is this the cut to show this much hip cleavage? I really don’t know these days) all while on bended knee when I have half a dozen stitches in my knee. You get the picture.

But some things should never be extra, like the ingredients in your tampon. In a world of extra, when it comes to tampons, you want a product that has the things you need – comfort, protection, and none of the “extra” bells and whistles you don’t!   Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide™ is a BPA free tampon that’s free from colors and dyes, so you can keep it simple. It’s made with purified fibers washed up to 5 times, and weaved together to form an absorbent core. Every ingredient used in Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide™ tampons is rigorously evaluated to provide reliable protection that you can trust to be gentle and safe for your body.  With 360º Protection™ that shapes to your body for just the right fit, you get simply the gentle protection you need without the extra!

How I keep my sanity day in & day out mothering 4 children, 6 and under, is by simplifying ALL things, feminine hygiene products included. No tricks, no gimmicks just the necessities.

Having 4 back to back pregnancies, I wasn’t getting my period. Pregnant for 9 months + a year or two of nursing per child, and then getting pregnant again while breastfeeding. Learn from me breastfeeding is not a contraceptive. A period delayer but not a contraceptive. Anyways, fast forward 7 years and here I am, still nursing my baby at 16 months and guess who decided to start knocking on my door.

YUP! I have recently restarted getting visits from my monthly “visitor”. I got my first little visitor at a complete surprise to me. Like I said, I usually just jump right into a new pregnancy while I am still breastfeeding, no menstruating.

So there I was at Kroger like a kid in the ice cream parlor trying to choose between 31 flavors. I couldn’t believe what I was choosing between, and I was shocked by all the new variety of tampons that had been developed and discovered since the last time I needed to use and purchase them. I kept asking myself where is the simple tampon that does its job and does it well. I need those ones. And then I found them.  I went with Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide™ Tampons. Seemed pretty straight forward to me, it had me with simple, since I am drawn to all things simple these days.

Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide™ was the simple choice and at such a great value. While you are thinking about cutting out those extras in your life, checkout this hilarious video starring D’Arcy Carden. When you are done, head to your nearest Kroger store and pick up a package of Playtex® Simply Gentle Glide™ tampons. To get an even greater value on your own box, you can find a coupon here!
