Here we go again I am back visiting my fun orthodontist office, but this time I am trying out Invisalign. Why did I not wear my retainers? UGH! You would think someone who loves straight teeth would wear her retainers, nope. I went my whole pregnancy with Briton without putting them in. Yikes #pregnancybrain or just lazy?  But on a side note I guess there are worse places to revisit. I love Dr. Thompson’s office.

A little over 5 years ago I walked through Dr. Thompson’s doors, my life has never been the same since. I walked in his office newly married, a junior in college, just found out I was pregnant with Hudson, scared to be an adult with braces, and excited to get them on for the first time.

Dr. Thompson’s office was not the first Orthodontist I visited, I had been “Dr. shopping”  to several other offices across the valley, but I just knew immediately this was the Dr. I wanted to get my smile perfected by. He has such a contagiouss fun attitude, the atmosphere is tropical and the staff is welcoming, I’ve never been to an office like this and knew this is where I should get my treatment done.

Ever since Dr. Thompson corrected my cross bite and perfected my smile my whole face shape changed for the better.

Invisalign is awesome. I was shown a short 3D video of how my smile will be corrected and it is going to be gorgeous. I can’t wait. I have only been doing treatment for a few days now and I have already noticed a difference. I am so excited for my end result.

I wanted to quickly address one of the biggest questions I get, which is what kind of plastic surgery have I had done to my face? The answer is NONE.  The only plastic part about my face is my Invisalign which doesn’t count.

How to Get The Body You’ve Always Wanted Without Working Out

April 12, 2016 By Shannon Bird 16 Comments

First I want to say that bodies are incredible! Our bodies can create life and change so much. The picture on the left is me 9 months ago nine months pregnant with Briton. And the one on the right is me two days ago. A lot can happen in 9 months.

After having my email bombarded yesterday asking about my workouts and how to get a flat tummy, I decided to dedicate todays post in letting you in on how I have the stomach I have today.

My body is a reflection of my lifestyle. I live very simply, eat basic, while managing a lot. I have cut out anything that stresses me out. Like working out. No more worrying about my kids getting sick at the daycare or never feeling ready and running around in gross sweaty gym clothes all day.

So instead of working out, I just decided to focus on eating cleaner and totally just invest in my family at this stage of life. Since losing myself to my children and family it has paid off and I am in the best shape of my life.

My shoulders and arms are strong and toned from rocking my baby and picking up my kids when they fall. I do always squat 120 times and do 120 calf raises when I brush my teeth, always have always will.  I get my cardio the hr before my husband comes home from work and my kids are playing. I call this “power hour” I run around vacuuming, folding laundry, cleaning bathrooms, cooking dinner. I don’t look at my phone once during this time. I jam the music throughout our home and go to work. It is a really fun part of the day.

People may say I have good genetics, which I do. But I had the same “genetics” when I weighed 136 and was super unhappy with the way clothes fit me. Today I am 20+ pounds lighter and I don’t think about two things. How clothes fit me and losing weight, whereas when I was heavier that is ALL I thought about.

I want to help as many people get to their goal weight so you too can stop worrying about it and can just have fun in the moment and focus on the most important things in life, whatever that maybe to you.

By the way I am no longer consuming protein shakes, I felt like my muscles were retaining water. I have actually lost weight since stopping.

I eat very basic like I said.

I grab a yogurt in the morning (here) , dump granola on top of it until it hits the brim (this granola is the best), grab a spoon, put in my cup holder and am out the door every morning by 8:30 with 3 kids ready to go to their activities, school, and/or sports.

Lunch is a pb&j on bread or tortilla or turkey sandwich with apple or orange, sometimes a granola bar if we have to be somewhere quick.

Dinner is 90% of the time homemade and made health consciously where I can.

I eat s’mores once a week by our fire pit and go out for ice-cream every weekend.

Like I said very basic.

I love this crazy stage of life and I hope I was somewhat helpful.

Let me know if you have any questions.

welcometothegrandamerica

Wishing we could start our stay at The Grand America all over this morning. It was seriously a dream from the moment we arrived up until we left. When we checked in they gave the kids tokens for the cutest toy store. There they got a darling plush toy.

When we got to our suite there was gift baskets and hand written notes for our family and each of the children. Briton’s had bath accessories from the Honest Company in it, even their laundry detergent. I loved that they had robes for the children, a pack and play for Briton and they even had brought in a baby bathtub for him. They thought of everything, and went well above and beyond. It’s all about the little touches that make for a Grand experience.

My favorite part of the trip was the turn down service. We would come into our room after a full day of fun and we would be greeted with a dim room, soft music, and a tray of fresh fruit, water, another sweet letter, and our favorite warm cookies and milk.

The dining is world class, you cannot beat breakfast at The Grand America. Our family loved all the shops and had so much fun exploring every amenity and activity at The Grand. Every outfit that I wore on my stay at The Grand America can all be found at their Womens Boutique. Feel free to call in or stop by.

We were too sad to have our trip to come to an end so instead of saying goodbye we are saying we’ll see you soon!

St. Patricks Day prep is in full swing over here at the Bird casa! And I for one could not be any more excited. A. St. Patricks Day is such a fun holiday with kids and B. Rainbow Chip Frosting is back!

After Rainbow Chip frosting was taken off the shelves for months it has come back! A big thanks to all you petitioners and Facebook pages Betty Crocker listened and she brought it back!

(Read Story Here)

A special thanks to Cheeky Home for sponsoring this post and encouraging me to do something fun with my kids for St. Patricks Day. We had the best day at Target today. We started in the Holiday section and we only had one rule only things that were green or St. Patricks-y could come in the carts. Food included.

I was amazed by everything we thought of

Here is our fun list that we came up with

-Cheeky Plates

-Green Key Lime Chaboni Yogurt

-Lucky Charms

-Green Machine

-Salade Kits

-Bananas (gold)

-Green Peppers

-Leprechaun swag

-Rainbow Chip Frosting

-Leprechaun booby trap kits -Hudson is determined he’s catching one this year

I will have to make another trip tomorrow while my “Leprechauns” are at preschool for the boring list, but my word it was a blast shopping with a theme in mind.

March 5, 2016 By Shannon Bird 1 Comment

Many thanks to Nature Valley by General Mills for sponsoring today’s story and encouraging me to try their delicious new cereals!

Did you know Monday, March 7th, is National Cereal Day? Who would of thought? This is huge for my family because cereal is a staple in my home. I am not a fan, but my husband is. Every night before he goes to bed he always has to have a bowl, or two. This has been a Bird family tradition for as long as he can remember.

I wanted to get him a healthy cereal option so I picked up two boxes of Nature Valley Cereal. I decided to try the Baked Oat Bites and Chocolate Oat Clusters. My husband being an ingredient snob loves that Nature Valley has no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial flavors or colors. He also loves that they are protein packed, and a great source of fiber, he was sold. His favorite was the Chocolate Oat Clusters,”it’s like a healthy dessert”, he says.

I want all of you try the New Nature Valley Cereals, they have three delicious flavors to choose from; Baked Oat Bites, Honey Oat Clusters, and Chocolate Oat Clusters.

Are you planning on celebrating National Cereal Day? If so, don’t forget to grab your $1.00 off coupon here!

Nature Valley is more than just bars now, let Nature Valley power your day with their new hearty and delicious cereals.
