Today I am so excited to show you my new Corbett Lighting Theory Chandelier. I love how much light and flare it adds to our home.
Shannon Bird: In an overshare society, not sharing everything with everyone helped me achieve healing, forgiveness
I told him before we spoke we cannot talk about my past, the years prior to 2009. But sure enough after some caffeine, being up all night from nerves, the conversation went there. Which is why that podcast WILL NEVER make it on air.
On my drive home, after my interview, I went over some of the things that were said, exposing my personal struggles and things that I have kept hidden deep within. And I thought, those are my pearls/dirty laundry that I do not ever need to share. And for what? And for who? So he thankfully pulled it.
Why? Because before 2009, my life was nothing but anxiety. Friends, making high school sports teams, ACT scores, college, boyfriends who become missionaries who then come home early to try to persuade you to marry them after you dumped them on the awkward phone call on Mother’s day, work, home life, speaking at graduation after making a list of all the boys you’d like to kiss before you leave high school regardless if they had girlfriends or not, and whether their girlfriends were your friends too, and then you check everyone off your list and have to stand up in front of your entire class and look at everyone in the eyes. … DRAMA!
This anniversary was a special one, as it was our first one in seven years (since having kids), we got to celebrate as just the two of us. I want to thank my mom and The Grand America for making it unforgettable for the both of us.
As we were packing up after our stay, I got really choked up thinking about all the future memories I want to make here. I want to celebrate many more anniversaries here. I want to spend the night before Holland gets married with her here and help her get ready for her wedding day here. I want to decorate the honeymoon suits for my boys after their wedding days here, etc.
Life is so beautiful and should be celebrated. The Grand America has a sense of nostalgia about it that takes special life moments and elevates them. The memories we made will be ones I carry with me through my entire life. I never want to forget this anniversary.
We celebrated with the Anniversay Package, which included; two keepsake robes + slippers, chocolate truffles, a baby package for Brooklyn (I wasn’t certain he wasn’t coming with), a rose, spa passes (which we never got around to using, we never left the room until we had too) and $100 dollar spend credit to use at the hotel (we used for room service, and souviners)
I am so thankful for our time at The Grand America and highly recommend it as a great place for a very romantic getaway and any special life moment worth remembering and celebrating.

Say hello to my little friend. Meet iXpand Flash Drive, the little guy on the end of my phone. I never leave home without him, he’s the best travel companion for me and my iPhone because he holds all that is most precious and dear to me, i.e. pictures and videos of my family.
Ever try taking a pic and then you run out of storage? Yeah me too! Gone are the days when your phone will alert you right in the middle of trying to take a photo that your storage is full, thanks to Sandisk iXpand Flash Drive.
Instead, take confidence in knowing you can take all the photos you want because the iXpand Flash Drive delivers a fast and simple way to free up space on your iPhone and iPad by automatically backing up your camera roll so that you’re always ready to capture more memories.
This has me wishing I had this little friend earlier this summer. The iXpand would have been extremely useful had I had it before I dropped my phone into the ocean. I was heart-broken, as I watched my phone sink down in the ocean blue and all I could do was sit there in my kayak. I knew right then and there I didn’t just lose my phone, but all the memories were sinking with it. If I had my phone backed up on the iXpand Flash and onto my computer I would have only of lost my phone all my photos and videos would have all been safely stored onto my iXpand Flash. Woulda Coulda Shoulda!
Get the iXpand Flash, download the mobile app, easily found in the app store. Anytime the drive is connected to your iPhone or iPad the camera roll is automatically backup. No need to manually select which photos to back up. Every time you plug it in, it does the work for you. So easy, so simply, so worth it!
We are currently still using his crib mattress and darling crib sheets from Jump Off Jo in a toddler bed as we wait for his new bed to be finished. I can’t wait to show you his new big boy bedroom. Its going to be my favorite room in the home, stay tuned.
We love the innocence and beauty of the artwork on it. I have been super impressed with the quality and love how there has been no bleeding of colors when the deep rich colors against the bright white are washed together. After months and moths of wear, it still looks brand new.
We are still using the double sided milestone cards as sweet Brooklyn continues to grow. Right now he is getting ultra chatty and vocal. Pretty soon he’s going to be talking and I am not sure if I am ready for it.
